Forest parks

We’ve six forest parks in Scotland

These are pockets of some of Scotland's best forests. From glittering lochs and epic glens, rich in wildlife and history, there’s so much to see and do.

 

Argyll Forest Park

Established in 1935, this is Britain’s oldest forest park. Located a short distance from Glasgow, it feels like true wilderness. Roam around trails with giant redwoods, tackle the Cobbler, or have a lovely picnic along a loch. Argyll Forest Park’s rugged beauty is one not to miss.

Galloway Forest Park

At 300 square miles and 16 forests, this is Britain’s largest forest park. Famed for being the UK’s first International Dark Sky Park, this is a great place to see thousands of stars and planets. Equally picturesque during the day, Galloway is the perfect place for a day out thanks to its easy walks, wildlife viewing areas and relaxing forest drive.

Glenmore Forest Park

Located at the heart of the Cairngorms National Park, Glenmore is the perfect weekend destination. Here you can find the highest beach in Britain, trails through old Scots pines, rich biodiversity and the famous An Lochan Uaine. Just outside Aviemore, this is a popular site year-round.

Queen Elizabeth Forest Park

This forest park encompasses some of Scotland’s best-loved locations. Lochs Lomond and Katrine, the Trossachs hills and the craggy tops of Strathyre are here. Discover this park’s magical atmosphere and wonderful wildlife. You can hike Ben Ledi, enjoy a forest drive, or take in ancient oak woods.

Tay Forest Park

Wonder at the tall trees, majestic views and mysterious tales of Tay Forest Park. Explore the weird and wonderful fables of Weem or drink in the iconic vista at Queen’s View.

Tweed Valley Forest Park

Brace yourself for adventure in the forests that pepper the banks of the River Tweed. Horse riders will love the endless winding trails. This forest park boasts some of Britain’s best mountain biking trails.
